The adventure begins (12th May 2019)

We have now been on board for just over 1 week and have pretty much got all the boat jobs done and are raring to get going.

Manly Harbour - Where is Sally????
We arrived back on board last Thursday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to see how clean the boat was - it almost looked like someone had been on to give it a wash but guessing it was due to the recent heavy rains.  One odd thing we did find was that the batteries were pretty much totally flat.  Still haven't quite figured out why but luckily we were planning on replacing the house batteries  before heading off so this confirmed our ideas and the 2 x 270AH batteries were installed on Tuesday.  This is no easy feat with each battery weighing in at a bit over 75kgs each.  Luckily we had a young fit fellow to assist Mark with the install!!!

Hard to believe this weighs 75kg

Sally - Looking Good!
Getting the boat provisioned up has been so much easier in Australian waters.  We had a delivery from Woolworths on Saturday and then Dan Murphies delivered on Monday so apart from a bit of fresh we are pretty much loaded up and ready to go - how easy was that!!!

We have had a pretty busy week with the usual cleaning, scrubbing, putting things back into cruising mode and lots of polishing and waxing so Sally is looking in tip top condition once again.

Yesterday we decided to have a day in the big smoke so took the train into Brisbane to do a bit of window shopping and happened to come across a Krishna festival and march outside of the Brisbane City Council Building - very colourful and rather noisy too.

Krishna Festival

Our excursion involved lots of walking which took us to the Botanic Gardens and then along the Brisbane River to the Felon Brewery which is the new and funky place to be in Brisbane and is literally under the Story Bridge.  Great place to spend a few hours enjoying the local brew intermingled with some people and boat watching.  It ended up being a big day and we didn't make it back on board till well after dark.

Boat watching involved many and varied craft!

It is now Sunday which is also Mothers Day.  It is a tad cool this morning and have been trialling the newly gassed air conditioner but on heat mode which is working rather well.  Mark is out putting on the solar panels.  We are hoping that we might be able to get out for the first of our kite boarding sessions either late today or tomorrow morning when the wind goes back into the SE.

Will spend tomorrow topping up with some fresh goodies before we head off on Tuesday morning.  First stop will be the fuel bowser at RQYS where we will stock up on hydrocarbons.  The plan will be to stop for a  night or two at Tangalooma then into Mooloolaba for a few days...
